Bigger Better Birthday

I miss the days when the only thing my son wanted for his birthday was Lego. Things were so much cheaper back then and he was always happy with the choices that we made. Alas though, he has grown up and so have his tastes in gifts.
This year, he asked for a set of Lexus wheels for his car. I thought that would not be too bad, until I found out what the price tag was for aftermarket wheels. On top of it all, he wanted to pick them out himself, so I could not even see the happy look of surprise on face when he opened his gift.
He chose a set of staggered wheels that set my checkbook way back, but he was happy with them. I hope he does not expect this every year, as he makes a lot more money than I do and he could easily afford it better than I.
I hope I never have to buy custom rims for my own car, but given that I drive a Sebring, I think that I am pretty safe on that. I think that the tires I buy at Costco are good enough for me, and when they are not, I will start taking the bus.
